The Shoe is inspired by Ohio Stadium. The stadium is commonly referred to "The Shoe" becasue of it's resemblance to a horseshoe. 
 
It was designed by architect Howard Dwight Smith and built by 1922. In the rotunda of The Shoe, look up and you'll see the rosettes!
